Королевская корова

The Royal Cow
One boy came up to his mother and said, ”Draw me a cow, please!”

The mom of this boy was not a regular mom. She was a queen! And the boy, of course, was a prince.

“Hmm, thought the queen, looked like I could do anything! Fireworks for three days–easy!
Ha! Little fireworks. I say, and on a plain, they build a castle. I move one finger, WARTIME!
Even with running water! But, a cow... NO, NO, NO! Maybe call a royal artist?”

The queen looked at her son, smoothed out his scrunched lace collar.
Looked into the eyes of the young king.

And understood: She’ll have to do it by herself!

The queen took a deep breath and got a stack of pink paper and a gold feather, and scraped out something like a suitcase. Then she drew the suitcase sticks for legs and a broom for the tail.

Now it’s time for the face. How well do you imagine a cows face? But the queen didn’t the teensy, weensy bit! But she courageously shook the gold ink from the feather and started drawing the face how she could.

The suitcase with a human face joyfully swung its tail, chewed a daisy, and smiled.

The queen shrugged and showed the boy her work.

“Oh, mommy, I love it, it is just what I wanted! And that one smiles like this!”
And the prince twirled around because he was the only one who could turn his back to the queen!

“Look at my boy! As soon he’s king the kingdom is doomed! He is too kind. I need to be a little more hard on him.”

And she kissed him on the small, perspiring, freckled nose.
