Птицы: самые легкие и самые тяжелые

"Birds: The Lightest and the Heaviest"

Even if we had gigantic, light wings, we would not be able to fly due to our heavy weight.

A duck's (from the beak to the tip of the tail) and a six-year-old boy's heights are about the same, but a boy’s weight is almost the same as the weight of five ducks!

A swan is usually as long as a grown man but is around six times lighter.

The lightest bird in the world is the bee hummingbird: it weighs no more than a coin worth 10 kopeek.

On the other hand, the heaviest bird is the ostrich, which weighs 100 kilograms, as much as a grown man. The ostrich cannot fly due to its massive weight.

The largest bird that can fly is the great bustard. A male great bustard weighs 20 kilograms.

A long time ago, the heaviest bird that could fly was the argentavis. It weighed as much as half an ostrich, or 50 kilograms. Its wingspan was more than the height of a giraffe. Sadly, the argentavis is now extinct.
