Moose
One night, a moose roamed into the village from the forest. He walked up the street, turned into an overgrown alleyway and finally made his way into Anna Petrovna’s garden. The moose drank some water from the irrigation barrel, chewed on some clothes that were hung on a rope outside, licked a shovel that was propped up against the veranda. Then he poked his head through the window and started feasting on some left-over porridge, scooping the treat up with his long tongue. He finished the porridge and moved on to the bread loaf.
Suddenly, he scraped a teapot with one of his horns. The teapot fell and rolled on the floor, making a loud noise. Startled, the moose tried to run away, but his horns would not let him. He was stuck!
In the morning, Anna Petrovna awoke to find a moose in her kitchen.
At first, she grabbed a rolling pin, ready to fight the intruder, but her face quickly softened. She felt sorry for the moose. Anna Petrovna ran out of the house to find Mitrich.
- Mitrich, - she shouted, - come over here. Quick! I have a moose stuck in my window!
Mitrich could not make out a single word. He has just woken up.
- What do you mean? – he enquired, yawning. – What moose?
- An ordinary moose. With horns! He poked his head through my window and now he cannot get out!
Mitrich came over to Anna Petrovna’s house. Indeed, the moose was there, as described.
- Blimey! – he said. – And how do you suppose we will get him out of here?
- I don’t know how, just, please, get him out of my window, Mitrich. Are you implying that I will have to live with it for the rest of my life?
Mitrich walks around the moose, not knowing how to help the beast.
- Maybe you should actually let him live with you – he says. – Look at those horns! You can hang wet clothes or drape some towels over them.
- Stop talking nonsense! – Anna Petrovna is getting angry. – Get this animal out of my house, now!
- Alright then, - Mitrich agrees. – Let’s try.
He brings back a saw and begins to carefully file down the window frame. The moose is standing completely still, only occasionally twitching his ears. He does not like the buzzing of the saw. At last, Mitrich saws off part of the window frame and pushes the moose’s head outside.
The moose is standing in the middle of the yard, while a blue curtain hangs off one of his horns.
- Listen, Mitrich, you need to take the curtain off him! What will I use to cover my window?
Mitrich starts walking towards the moose “here-here-here, kitty-kitty-kitty” – he is beckoning to the moose, but the animal is slowly retreating. The beast finally reaches the gate, turns around to face the forest and bolts straight for it.
- Wait! – shouts Anna Petrova. – Give me back my curtain!
She runs after him, but it is too late. The moose is nowhere to be seen.
- It’s fine, - says Mitrich, while nailing back the window frame, - the curtain is not a big deal. If he were to visit me instead, he would have eaten all of my strawberries!
That moose was seen many times in the forest after the incident. He was roaming around with a hanging curtain until his old horns fell off.

Are you implying - так деревенские бабки не говорят :-)
